Information Technology's Client Services group provides technology support to Taylor faculty, staff, students, administration, alumni, and guests of the university (our clients). The Client Services team includes Roberta Ratliff, Jason Everroad, Meghan Corduan, Terry Davis, Nick Corduan, TJ Higley, and a crew of dedicated student technicians.

Green IT and Computing

Green IT & ComputingInterested in how to be a better steward of the technology related resources here at Taylor? Of special interest to faculty and staff is the very high cost of ink and the university's recent decision to replace ink-based printers with laser printers. You will be hearing more about this shortly.


Microsoft Office 2010

Office 2010 Microsoft has released the latest version of Office. I.T. has completed testing of the suite and has begun upgrading of faculty/staff Windows-based computers. Departments will be contacted soon to schedule the upgrade. In prep for the upgrade, employees can learn about Office 2010 on our Office 2010 Tutorials Page. Taylor-owned Apple computers quality for Office 2011 for Mac. Check the upgrade schedule.


TUAlert

TUAlert TUAlert (also known as Taylor's Wireless Emergency Notification System) exists to notify Taylor University students and employees of rapidly-developing, life-threatening situations on campus. You are strongly encouraged to enroll.

To enroll: Login to myTAYLOR; Look for the sign up link in the Quick Links section of the Student or Employee tabs; enter data as requested. If you supply a mobile number, you will receive confirmation of a successful sign-up.

SPAM Control

Barracuda SPAM Filter Taylor's SPAM filter allows you control over how much SPAM filtering is applied to your Taylor email. Taylor provides SPAM filtering via the Barracuda SPAM filtering device. Incoming messages are scored based on how 'spam-like' they are. The higher the score, the more sure Barracuda is that the message is SPAM. Lower scoring messages are delivered to your mailbox. Read the SPAM Tutorial for instructions on raising or lowering the level of filtering applied to your email.


Cell Phone Coverage

Cell Coverage Both Verizon and AT&T own cell towers in the Upland area. Verizon users may be able to improve their cellular connection by configuring their phone to recognize the local Upland tower by dialing *228 from their cell phone and following the directions.


Facebook Security

I.T. Open Forum

Open Forum Information Technology leadership held an open forum for Taylor faculty and staff on April 8, 2010. Some of the topics discussed included bandwidth, digital signage, power savings, and email for employees and students. The next I.T. Open Forum is planned for Fall, 2011.
